Who could make changes to your environment?

Many people, and primarily the ones who have access to sufficient credentials. (You do not share your sa password with anyone, right?!)

Why is it important:

Because, unless you are by yourself in the entire organization, there will always be some other opinion, other ideas and attempts to introduce changes.

What do we do:

As you know, SQL Server runs a default trace (unless you have decided to change this). In the default trace some events are logged and kept for some time. The default trace runs on 5 .trc files and over time they are rotated (recycled). Before the information is recycled, you can freely query the default trace and get your colleagues’ footprints in the system. The script below will show all changes to objects (created, altered, deleted) which are logged in the default trace and which have not been recycled yet. Hence I would recommend running the query once a day or so. Keep in mind that the changes made to indexes (index maintenance by your scheduled jobs) will also show up, so you can modify the query to filter them out.
